  • Improved Commissioning and Handover of Facility Information: The general contractor and MEP contractor gather all information about installed maintenance of facilities and later this information will be linked to the building model. This information can be used when a building is to be handed over to the owner so that the owner can check that all the systems are operating as designed.

  • Better Management and Operation of Facilities: Information for all systems utilized in a building is presented in the building model. Systems analyses are used to determine whether or not all systems are working according to design. And these reports are given to the owner as soon as the building is in use. Ultimately this information can be used to check that all the system is working nicely after the building is completed.

  • Integration with Facility Operation and Management Systems: A building model gives precise information about the as-built spaces and systems and provides a good insight for dealing with and operating the building. Track of actual time control systems and natural interfaces to sensors are provided by building information models although some of these abilities are not yet evolved. Though, BIM provides a really good platform to deploy these abilities.
